In 2006, my grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and our lives were changed forever. For 13 years, I watched my grandma go from being a strong willed independent women, to someone who can no longer feed herself, walk, or even make her needs known. This June my grandma passed away from traumatic injuries she received after falling out of her wheelchair at her nursing home. She was so innocent, and selfless. She was robbed of her life over the past 13 years, a time that should be for celebrating with her granddaughters; weddings and first time homes, and new careers. My grandma was the only grandparent I ever had, she was my everything and we loved her with all of our hearts. We honor her by walking in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s each year and to help those who are victims of this terrible and heartbreaking disease.
Please help stop this terrible disease by donating to the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
