Over the past few years, Joa, through the Charitable Giving Committee, has been a corporate sponsor in Sheboygan County’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year we want to continue to amplify our support by sponsoring a Walk team. What’s that entail, and why do we walk? Great questions!
- 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. (It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined)
- In Wisconsin alone, there are 120,000 currently living with Alzheimer’s and 196,000 caregivers.
- More than 6 million Americans are living with the disease nationwide.
- In 2024, Alzheimer's and other dementias will cost the United States $360 billion. This number is projected to rise to nearly $1 trillion in 2050.
- Alzheimer’s and related dementia rob individuals of basic dignity – the ability to eat, toilet themselves, remember loved ones’ names, and more…
- The machines we make create products that these individuals rely on for quality of life.
- All funds raised in the Sheboygan County walk stay local
I hope that none of you will have to experience the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s disease, but the statistics paint a different picture. Please consider joining Joa in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s this year as we fight to increase awareness, promote supportive services, and ultimately find a cure!
