"Helen"s Heroes" was formed to honor my mother--"Helen" who passed away in 2011 from Alzheimer Disease-- she certainly was  a hero in my life. and ALWAYS there for me!! I was a caregiver for my mother for the last years of her life along with an amazing support team. Mom showed me first hand the importance of caring for others through actions not just words. She always supported those in need--the sad poor, the ill, the downtrodden--you name it, mom was there.

Even before my mom was diagnosed, I had been working for many years as a social worker with Alzheimer patients and their families,friends and caregivers. Today, I still try to  support, comfort and help those families and caregivers as well as the patient  of Alzheimer Disease daily as a social worker. I know personally and as a professional, the impact of this horrific diseased. It is my desire to keep honoring my mother's memory and continue the compassion and empathy she so easily expressed to everyone she met during her almost 89 years here on earth.
