Rachel Ann grew up in the small town of Wallowa, Oregon. She had a beautiful singing voice and was always in demand to perform at school events, weddings and funerals. After graduating she attended Willamette University and studied Music. When she returned home she worked at the Creamery in Wallowa and for the School District. She married Clayton in 1948 and lovingly raised three children, Christi, Kevin and Reesa in Enterprise, Oregon. For many years she worked with the Enterprise School District as an Assistant Librarian helping students with their research and more importantly, listening to their problems. She loved to read, sing in her church choir, travel on tour bus trips and spend time with her family. She was a wonderful advocate for people who were struggling and lonely. Her friendship with students at the High School extended past graduation and made a lasting impact. She loved to have deep, meaningful conversations.
Rachel Ann was diagnosed with Alzheimers in her late 70's and passed away in 2008 at the age of 82. It was terribly hard for her family to see such a wonderful, caring, thoughtful person lose everything that made her who she was. My hope is that we will develop better treatments and even a cure for this horrific disease in my life time. No one should have to endure what she did and no family should have to go through what we experienced. If you have the means, please donate to this worthy cause. And if you aren't able to donate, please do One Act of Kindness in Rachel Ann's Memory. Thank you.
