We found out my dad, Norm, had Alzheimer's seven or eight years ago. You couldn't really tell at first, because it simply made it hard for him to find the right words. But he was smart -- an engineer for Boeing for 30 years -- so he substituted different words that still made sense. Over time, he lost nearly all his words, except "yes", "no" and "wow!". But we were lucky, because he never forgot who we were and always lit up when friends or family came to see him.
My dad was an inspiration. Strong, loving, stubborn, and hard working. He didn't go easily, but fought to live until the very end. That's why I named this team after him and as his "road warriors" we can help make a difference and stop this horrible disease. Please join us as we walk for my dad and all those who either have Alzheimer's, know someone who has it, or like me have lost someone to it.
