We are walking to help support the resources the Alzheimer's Association provides as well as the hope that one day there will be a cure for this horrible disease. We learned about the Alzheimer's Association when we were trying to understand what was happening to our Mom and what we could do to help her. Along this journey, we have met so many people and have seen how dementia can devastate a family. We have also met extraordinary people like Mary Bates the former director at Summit Memory Care and her staff who provided exceptional care and kindness to Mom and all of us and Dr. Lawson who helped us understand what happens as the end was coming. In time we met Nancy Poulos who has been the extraordinary Chairperson and rock star managing the St Johnsbury Walk and the dedicated Jenna Johnson and Kirk Rankin who guide and support the local efforts from the Vermont Azheimer's Association.
By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we are raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
