My Mom, Carolyn K. LaFleche, was one of the kindest and most active people I have ever known. She raised six children; until the loss of one of her sons, Paul, who had just turned 9 years old, to a tragic accident. She walked five or more miles every day until Alzheimer's Disease robbed her of this ability. And let me tell you, she was a fast walker - I can remember doing mini jogs just to keep up with her. She begged me to have children so she would no longer have to show a picture of my dog when her friends whipped out the grandkid photos. When she became a proud grandmother and great grandmother her love knew no bounds. She enjoyed bragging about her four "highly educated" girls with their graduate degrees. Throughout my divorce she sat beside me, albeit clipping coupons, to give me the strength to continue on. I assisted in her care when Alzheimer's had robbed her of her precious memories, it was then that she insisted that my dog was really hers. Mom was an amazing person, her beauty, love of life, and inner strength lives on in her surviving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to this day.
It is for the above reasons, and so many more happy and precious memories of Mom, that I continue to Walk to End Alzheimer's. Once again, I ask for your sponsorship to help find a cure of this debilitating, deadly disease. I appreciate all of you so very much!
Thank you for your support!
With love, Nancy
