My grandmother lived with our family for her last 7 years of life. She exhibited "classic" signs of Alzheimer's Disease including not wanting to bathe, asking questions repeatedly, easily becoming anxious and scared of being alone and more. At this time, in the early 1990's, there was little or no research or awareness for Alzheimer's Disease or related Dementia's. Our family made it through each day, often challenged with her needs and behaviors, and she died in our home. We all loved Grandma very much but her final years were not happy ones for her or us. Thankfully, there are now resources and research to assist individuals, family and friends with their journey through Alzheimer's and Dementia. Please support the 2021 Alzheimer's Walk by joining our team, donating or volunteering to help the day of the walk. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!Shana
