My grandmother, Mary Sue (Honey) Curran was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 3 years ago. She was raised in Massachusetts' South Shore where she was born with a love for seafood, family and a wicked good dirty martini. Honey was a teacher at Duxbury High School where she made a positive impact on the community and the students she taught. Since her diagnosis, some days are harder than others but she remains to have a positive outlook, sense of humor and the thick New England accent we all know and love (insert Good Will Hunting "How do you like them apples?!"). We are lucky enough to all live close to each other and give support when it is needed. My hope for Honey is that her positive outlook remains steady and we can laugh over a good donut or martini in the years ahead.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for your support!
