Every step I take in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is inspired by the people I love who have faced this cruel disease. My participation is deeply personal as I walk in honor of my dear mother, Bessie Lois Matthews, who died of Alzheimer's at the age of 67. She was diagnosed at 55 years old. Her positivity and faith in the face of Alzheimer’s have always been a light to me, showing me the power of strength and love. I also walk for others like her and their families who need hope in this journey.
To me, this walk represents more than just raising awareness or funds. It symbolizes unity in the fight for a cure, a collective stand against a disease that robs many of their memories and lives. By sharing my story, I hope to inspire others to join me in walking, donating, or simply spreading the word. Together, we can make a difference and bring the day closer when Alzheimer's no longer takes away our loved ones.
