It began with a family who was impacted by Alzheimer's disease. The patriarch, Ray Acors, Sr., was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's at age 60. Wanting to understand this disease, we contacted the local Fredericksburg Alzheimer's Association office. We learn that there was literature we could get, a 24 hour support line, and meetings for families to get together, hear speakers, share stories and ask questions. We also found out that there was an event that we could be involved with, to help bring awareness and raise donations to help fund research for a cure and support the families of those impacted by this terrible disease. 3 of Ray's children, along with their families and a few friends got together and participated in their first walk. Several years later we found out that we could actually be our own team.  We named it Rays of Light after Ray. Over the years our team has grown, adding Ray's great-grandchildren, and more friends. Join our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's™, the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer's disease. Together, we can advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer's, and provide programs to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans. You will not only be a team member, you will also be a family member.
