Hey everyone! As a member of Sigma Kappa, a sorority at Virginia Tech, and I support the Alzheimer's Association as one of my philanthropies. This foundation is very close to my heart because of my own connection to the disease. My Nana was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease last year and it has made an impact on my entire family's lives. My Nana is one of the strongest, most caring, and funny people I know. She is the definition of love and never fails to show how much she loves me and the rest of my family. As her first grandbaby, I have many fond memories with my Nana. From her always needing to take a picture of her grandchildren to rubbing my back to go to sleep at her house in Virginia, the memories are endless. I am constantly reminded of her whenever I see a blue and white print, her favorite pattern, or whenever someone says, "darling". I am so lucky to have these memories with her, however, for my Nana, these memories are slowly fading.
In November, Sigma Kappa and I will be participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Radford, VA. The week leading up to this walk, we will be fundraising through various events, such as percentage nights at local restaurants and donations from other VT organizations. I am eager to participate in this philanthropy and walk in honor of my Nana.
I hope you considering donating to my page and this amazing cause. By supporting the Alzheimer's Association and my page, you are helping researchers find the cure for this chronic disease.
