This year marks 16 years that I lost my mother to Alzheimer's disease but the reality is that I lost her long before that. It hurt so much to see her eyes staring emptily back at me. All the beautiful memories and stories we once shared were replaced with casual conversation between two strangers.
I cherish the moments we had and the love we shared. I walk for our present, our past, and mainly our future so that we may find a cure for the disease that robs us all of the only thing we are left with when we lose a loved one or when we experience all the things we experience in life.....our memories.
