White petals falling from the sky represent a white flower which symbolizes hope for everyone touched by this horrendous disease - the first survivor. The brief media clip brings awareness to others and tears to my eyes. I participate in walk to end Alzheimer's because I have hope. There is, of yet, no cure, but there is more and more information about what may help improve the quality of life for those with this dementia and for those who love and care for them. Alz Org is a good organization - they were there with the support I needed while trying to travel the path through mom's illness - the message board was a valuable source of information, encouragement and was my support group. Mom's gone as is grandpa, Abe's dad, an Aunt, friends, but this disease is affecting more and more people everyday - so now I walk for my siblings, my friends, my husband's family, myself. I walk for the caregivers who are tending loved ones, for memories lost and hope for the future. I walk because I believe that some day in the not to distant future, there will be people who can carry the white flower.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatments and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining our movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.
