My "Honey" would say she'd had a "crazy moment." That's how she would explain when she couldn't remember how to use the phone, or when she forgot to eat. As time went on there were more and more "Crazy Moments." She came and went, and when she went my heart went too. But just maybe, maybe there was a test they could do, a medicine they could try, ANYTHING that could keep the "went" away. But there wasn't, there isn't- and so they go. Alzheimers and Dementia make them go because we can't figure a way to keep them here. Help us find the way. The way to keep those "went" moments from happening to our families. To keep my children and grandchildren from watching me come and go and from hurting the way we all do when we have to watch this happen to those we love.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's/Dementia's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
