WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE
I am honored to serve as the team captain for the Genetics Department in the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer's, scheduled for Saturday, November 9th at 9:30am, hosted at the serene University of Houston Lynn Eusan Park.
In remembrance of my father, Tom Freedman, and in admiration of my mother, Barbara Freedman, whose unwavering care for him touched my heart profoundly, I walk with purpose. Alzheimer's doesn't just affect individuals; it impacts entire families in profound ways.
Yet, my commitment to this cause extends beyond personal ties. Throughout my 32 years at the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor, I've witnessed the dedication of remarkable faculty members like Drs. Huda Zoghbi, Hugo Bellen, Josh Shulman, and countless others who tirelessly research Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. Their tireless efforts, fueled by support from organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association, have propelled vital projects forward within our department.
Currently, over 5 million Americans are grappling with Alzheimer's, a number projected to soar to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our collective future hangs in the balance unless we intervene and alter the trajectory of this devastating disease.
Thank you for joining me in the battle against Alzheimer's. Chances are, if you're reading this, you've been touched by this disease in some way. Together, we can bring an end to the suffering it inflicts upon our loved ones.
Registering is simple; just click the link below and hit the 'Join Our Team' button. If participating isn't feasible for you, please consider contributing to our campaign. Every dollar raised, regardless of size, fuels the Alzheimer's Association's efforts in care, support, and research.
