Dear Friends & Family,

It is hard to believe this September will be the 11th year I have joined the "Forget Me Not" team to walk in the Katy Walk To End Alzheimers"! Over the past 10 years, our team has raised over $83,000 to help fight this awful disease, and it is all because of your love and generosity.

Mom battled Alzheimer's disease for over 12 years and she put up a brave fight. She lost that fight on the morning of July 29th, 2022. Even though she is no longer with us, I will continue to walk every year as long as I'm able to raise money for this cause so near and dear to my heart, helping families in the future benefit from a cure.

This picture was taken on one of our last family visits. Even though I was fairly certain she did not know I was her oldest daughter, I believe she knew I was someone for whom she cared about deeply. When she was still able to tell me she loved me, it brought tears to my eyes! I will cherish every hug, smile, and laugh we shared those last years. I am at peace knowing my mom and dad are together again in heaven, my dad without pain and my mom with all her memories intact.  

More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer's, and I know many of you have friends and family members struggling with the disease right now. Between 2000 and present, deaths from Alzheimer's have more than doubled. This disease kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.  In 2024, Alzheimer's disease will cost the US $360 billion and is projected to rise to more the $1 trillion in 2050.  Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
