Welcome to our team page for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®! Walk is the largest event to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®. It’s held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, and our team is excited to participate this year.
I would like to share my story:
Seems like one day she was MOM-no matter where I lived we would be on the phone every Thursday night at 10 pm, talking about the latest episode of "E.R.". If anyone asked-we were discussing the story line-but of course we were actually gushing over George Clooney or any other handsome doctor. That was mom before she became lost. We still talk on the phone Thursday night, but it's more of me talking and her listening. My "goal" now is to keep things light and funny. If I can make her laugh for a little while-even though it slips away as quickly as it comes-I'm happy for our time together. Now it seems like we are all playing that game where you walk as fast as you can from one spot to another while carrying a spoon full of water. The goal is to try and fill the bottle at the finish line. Each drop of water is a memory or a connection to someone or some thing- and once it slips off the spoon it is gone. No matter how many times, how many ways you refill the bottle it will never be quite the same as it was. Alzheimer's is like that-it takes away the connections between us and leaves us feeling lost. That's a sad and frightening way to live each day and I hope you will join us in our efforts to win this fight.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us — and with your help, we can be there for them. Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and over 11 million family and friends provide their unpaid care. We need your help to end this devastating disease. You can make an impact with a donation or even joining our team. Your kindness and generosity truly make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
Are you wondering why our Team is called the "9090s" (pronounced "nine o nine o)? Here's the answer: 9090=XOXO=Hugs and Kisses
So please make a donation or register as a participant on my team. You can also start your own fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for your support!
