Last year Jeff was diagnosed with MCI, Mild Cognitive Impairment. Our family has been adjusting to the changes and learning to help Jeff.
The beginning of this year, Jeff was approved to begin the new drug, Leqembi. Without the help and hard work of the Alzheimer's Association, doctors, nurses, and many more this new drug would have never been discovered to help people with Alzheimer's. This infusion is given twice a month over the course of multiple hours. Since this drug is so new, there is not clarity on how long Jeff will be undergoing treatment. After fighting with the insurance company for months, we were able to get approval for this medicine, but it is a yearly battle. Joining our fight to end Alzheimer's will help move the insurance companies along and help them recognize that people shouldn't need to fight for lifesaving medicine.
Alzheimer's isn't stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I'm raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease - funds that allow the Alzheimer's Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
