It's that time of year again- the Walk to End Alzheimer's - in Nashville this time!
This will be my ninth year participating in the walk for my Grandma Jane. While I used to live at home with her and my parents back in New Hampshire, for five years I've been living across the country in Southern California, and now I live in Middle Tennessee. I used to drive her places, play cards with her, take her out to lunch, and mainly help my parents out with the day-to-day challenges of living and taking care of someone with Alzheimer's. Now, it's completely saddled on my parents.
Don't get me wrong, Grandma Jane is doing great for being diagnosed with Alzheimer's officially for 11 years- she's still sassy, still loves ice cream and Mickey Mouse, and most importantly, still recognizes us (most of the time). But it is insanely hard for my parents and for her to be living with this disease. I can't do much in a different time zone, but I can keep doing this walk! Please donate and help my almost93-year-old grandmother as she struggles with Alzheimer's, donate to help my parents as they care for her, and donate to help the millions of families that are effected by this disease that ravages the mind. Thank you for all your love and support!!
