My mom, Faye, was only 49 years old and in perfect physical health when she first began showing signs of memory loss. This eventually led to a diagnosis of Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease at just 52. Over the years, my family watched helplessly as she lost the ability to speak, walk, care for herself, and even recognize those she loved. Witnessing someone you care for deeply endure Alzheimer's is like being suffocated, only to be revived, again and again. She passed away at the age of 60.
Alzheimer's is a public health crisis we cannot afford to ignore. Every 65 seconds, someone is diagnosed with this disease-a statistic that hits close to home for far too many families. It's a chilling reality that you or someone you love, could be next.
Over the past five years I've dedicated my time to volunteering, fundraising, and advocating both locally and nationally. I won't stop until we find a cure! I believe the first survivor of Alzheimer's is not far off, and I'm proud to be one of the many working tirelessly to make that a reality.
This year, I am participating in The Walk to End Alzheimer's, in honor of all the lives and families touched by this devastating disease. Please consider supporting this cause with a donation of any amount. Together, we can make a difference.
