Please Help Us Find a Cure!
Alzheimer's disease and dementia have touched my family deeply, taking my grandmother, my step-father and mother-in-law, and most of my husband's aunts and uncles. I walk in memory of them and my close friends, Lois, and Jim, who died with early onset Alzheimer's. I also walk in honor of their caregivers. Watching someone you love "disappear" from themselves is heartbreaking. There is no prevention and no cure for this disease.
More than six million Americans are estimated to have Alzheimer's today, and EVERYONE who has the disease WILL DIE of it or with it. There are no survivors. But research is ongoing and two new drugs have recently been approved by the FDA for treating Alzheimer's. I walk to continue this research until we find a cure and have the first Alzheimer's survivor!
