My why I work to raise money for the Walk to End Alzheimer’sis to honor of my Grandma and Grandpa Murphy. My Grandpa died of Alzheimer’s in 2003 and my Grandma and our family watched as the man we loved so much slowly disappeared. Normally when someone dies, you grieve once. With Alzheimer’s you grieve three times. When they are diagnosed, when they don’t know who you are anymore and then when their physical body fails. I want to see the cure for Alzheimer’s in my life time so that no family ever has to grieve more than once, because once is more than enough.
I know many other's who have suffered this debilitating disease and want to help bring it to an end. I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining me in the fight against Alzheimer's!
