As long as I have known my husband, Ray Marcon, he knew what he wanted to do, and what kind of person he wanted to become. His sights were set on being a good citizen in the community, a great boss who would safely lead his employees through their work lives. He also aimed to be an attentive dad to his four children and a playful grandfather to his seven grandchildren. He believed his children and grandchildren would continuously make good decisions because they always had “Ray/Nonno in their corner”.
As Ray began to develop and battle Alzheimer’s, I watched him struggle to say the names of his kids and grandkids. I watched him struggle to remember his favorite foods, although he never turns down a milkshake. Every day, I witness the reality of how much work and research needs to be done to combat this brain-changing disease. His father suffered this same fate. Ray always encouraged to 'support local,' so he bought his shoes downtown and his golf gear from the local pro shop. Please help us ‘support local’ by contributing to the cause.
Ray was a devoted golfer and fisherman. We can debate whether fishing is a sport or a hobby, but one thing we know for sure is that Ray always liked a good catchphrase. One of Ray’s favorites was “tight lines” which wishes a fruitful day of fishing to the person going on the trip. He would give that wonderful smile as he was looking for “tight lines” too.
