When I first started participating in The Walk to End Alzheimer's a few years ago I did so because it was a great cause. Alzheimer's effects so many lives and not just those who suffer from it, but also those who love them. I didn't think I knew anyone that Alzheimer's had affected in my personal life. I could not have been more wrong.
In April of 2022 my sister's father-in-Law, Terry Boocks, passed away suddenly. He had been residing in a memory care unit due to Alzheimer's. Terry was always such a kind and sweet man. I was so sorry to hear of his passing and how Alzheimer's had affected not only Terry, but also those closest to him.
In December 2022 one of my dearest friends lost his father, Michael Goff, to Alzheimer's. Again such a devastating thing for a family to have to go through.
In 2024 my cousin Judy Rains was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
I have also found out several more friends lives have personally been touched by Alzheimer's.
This is why I fight. This is why I walk. Please help us get the word out about efforts to try to find a cure for this devastating disease. Every time you share the walk page, every penny donated, each fundraiser participated in, everyone who joins the walk, every kind word and every prayer makes a difference.
Families facing Alzheimer's and all other dementia need us now more than ever -- and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease.
Thank you!
