I was introduced to the Alzheimer's Association in 2017 as a walk participant for my company, Edward Jones. Edward Jones, the National Presenting sponsor for the Walk to End Alzheimer's, has committed $50 million over a 10 year period to help the cause. I noticed very quickly the financial impact the disease had on my clients, which is why I went a step farther and joined the Board of Directors for the Greater PA chapter in 2020. In 2023 I was asked to co-chair the board in which I graciously accepted.
Starting off as a advocate for my clients, the disease hit closer to home for me in early 2024 when my father was diagnosed with moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's. Today my father lives in a memory care unit of a skilled nursing facility. I have gone from an advocate for my clients to the custodian of my father's care over night. I strive to continue to push towards a cure in hopes that families do not have to go through what I and so many others continue to go through.
