My mom is someone I most admire in this world. She left her home, family and friends in the Philippines to come to this country and start her own family. This family, her husband, three kids, and 5 grandchildren, would be the center of her life and still is. The signs started slowly but my dad, whom I also admire most, took care of her until he passed away. He was determined to keep her with him as long as possible. He was the most patient person with all she put him through. As he needed help with her we all pitched in as best we could. This is nothing anyone could have prepared us for. She still recognizes us when we walk in but gets easily confused once we are there.
My girlfriend, whose mother and grandmother had Alzheimer's/dementia, invited me to join this cause with her and I am very grateful. I want to help as much as I can to find a cure for this disease so just maybe my daughters won't have to worry about it.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Join my family and friends team or make a donation on my page. We would love you to join this walk with us.
Thank you for your support!
