This will be our teams 2nd year participating in the Walk. "Changes in Attitudes," isrepresentative of our mom’slove of listening to Jimmy Buffet and his song "Changes in Latitudes,Changes in Attitudes." As well it symbolizes the importance of education, understanding family history and the early warning signs of this disease. Manyof us noticed changes in her mood, personality, behavior, she was withdrawnfrom family, forgetting little things or misplacing items, things she loved sheseemed to no longer enjoy. She ate Cheesesteaks and drank Coffee, things shehad always hated!
Wechalked it up to she was flighty, tired, didn't have intertest or she didn’tcare. Years went by like this and obviously knowing what we know now her brainwas progressing through Alzheimer's. Understanding and educating yourself onwhat to look out for at the early stages of this disease could have profoundimpact on the progression. If we would have known what to be looking out forthe early warning signs and "Changes inAttitudes" we could have potentially slowed the progression of herdisease. She was officially diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in 2021 andentered a clinical study where she has been receiving a experimental druginfusion since December of 2021. This drug, Aduhelm is not a cure, but the hopeis to slow the disease.
Weare walking for her and all other families which share the same story and tocontinue to fund the studies and research towards making Alzheimer’s a thing ofthe past.
