If you haven’t yet been touched by a loved one experiencing Alzheimer’s or dementia…you probably will be. Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimers today and 11 million provide unpaid care for someone! It kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.
My business partner, Brian Marks, and our families invite you to join our fight to end Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
I’m walking in memory of my favorite Aunt, Ann Johnson, and to celebrate my amazingly resilient mom, Gerry. When her sister Ann needed regular care, my mom drove an hour and a half many days a week to help. And when Aunt Ann needed to move into memory care, mom and dad moved her to a nearby facility and mom — then in her late 70s — walked nearly 2 miles every day to visit her.
Now, at age 96, mom is dealing with her own dementia challenges. She’s still sharp, but it’s hard on her. She’s fortunate to have good care and coordinated, local family to help her. Most people aren’t so lucky.
We’re encouraged that the first person to survive Alzheimer’s has already been born. But there’s a lot of work to do. So PLEASE help by donating here, and/or by joining our team!
