Dear Family & Friends,
We hope this finds you and your families safe and healthy. We are writing once again to ask your support for a cause which continues to be a priority for us. Deb and I are walking to help reclaim the future for millions. We'd like you to join us by participating in the 2023 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's (WTEA) Saturday November 11 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. We are again committing to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support. I have been a Board Member for the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter (AADVC) for 15 years and remain an active member of the Board. My commitment has only grown as this disease is relentless. Through this longtime engagement, I have seen first-hand the needs of patients and their caregivers - and the incredible effect the Delaware Valley Chapter team has had in helping them. Alzheimer’s disease continues to be a massive unmet medical need and, if unresolved, will have devastating societal effects. We see the impact of the disease on families every day through our work with the Chapter; unfortunately, those challenges have only increased. Deb and I continue to look for ways to have increased personal impact. In past years the Philadelphia WTEA has had the largest attendance in the country. We have consistently placed as the #2 fundraiser in the US and are driving hard to be #1. It would be awesome if you could join us to walk with our team. If not, we would appreciate any financial contribution you can make. (While the Walk is November 11 our donation window remains open through December.) If you haven’t been directly impacted by Alzheimer's, you are very fortunate. The National Institutes for Health funded a study that determined Alzheimer's is the costliest disease in America. I think we all fear this disease will impact our families - not only because of the cost but also because it affects memory, thinking, judgement and behavior. Thankfully the US government has significantly stepped up its funding for Alzheimer's research - in large part due to the efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. We're seeing real clinical progress - two Alzheimer's drugs have been approved by the FDA in the past two years. The Alzheimer's Association is having a significant impact on many fronts; your assistance can help us accelerate and expand on that important work. We need your support to do our part! Please join our Walk to End Alzheimer’s team and/or make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association to advance research into prevention, treatment and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the 7+ million Americans (300,000+ in the Delaware Valley) and their 16 million caregivers already affected by the disease, the Alzheimer's Association offers care, education, support and resources in our communities and nationwide - many of which are free to those in need thanks to donations large and small. As always, we appreciate your consideration. Hope to see you on the 11th! With gratitude, Mike & Deb
