My mom is my inspiration for walking. Watching her deteriorate with Alzheimer's dementia was very heartbreaking. She was in her early 80's when she started to show signs of the disease. She was especially hard on my dad. That's when we stepped in to find out what was going on, taking her to a neurologist and psychiatrist. I always felt like I was losing her as the years went by. She was home until my dad passed, then she went to a nursing home. It was tough putting her in a nursing home. I had taken two leaves of absence from work and was losing income. I had to go back to work and there was no money to take care for my mom at home. I picked a family run home that was very specialized in caring for memory loss. She was more engaged there than being at home. I walk in memory of my mom, to bring awareness of this devastating disease. Please donate to this worthy cause. Thank you.
