Through the Alzheimer's Association, we will continue to protect, persevere, and partner for a cure for Alzheimer's. We will:
We remain Thankful always for "moments in the sun" with our loved ones and Hopeful always for a Cure.
Judi and I sang with the Alzheimer's Association "Sing Here Now Choir" for seven years. At the Spring 2018 Concert, we sang "I've Grown Accustomed to Your Face". We have been married for 59 years and have indeed "Grown Accustomed to Your (each other's) Face(s)". (To play the 3-minute video, click here)
Judi has been living in Memory Care since October 2018. The coronavirus lockdown was very hard on Judi. During that time, she lost her ability to stand and walk, and I began pushing her in a transport chair. During the lockdown, I visited Judi via FaceTime for about an hour daily. Judi enjoyed singing, and our visits mainly consisted of singing with a bit of dialogue. Each visit lasted 30 to 75 minutes (without singing, 10 minutes would have been difficult). In May 2020, I created a short video of Judi and me meeting together in song. There are a few 30-second song segments with some dialogue interspersed. (To play the 5-minute video, click here)
Judi began receiving hospice care in August 2023. In February 2024, my Barbershop Quartet and I delivered a Singing Valentine to Judi. (To play the 1-minute video, click here)
Judi's Mother, her sister, and Don's Mother all died with dementia. Everyone knows someone with Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's disease is relentless, and so are we.
We need a cure for this terrible disease. You can help by joining our team. Even if you can't walk with us, you can help by donating. Can we count on you?
Please support our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research.
