Our Alzheimer's journey has been a long one. On May 25, 2024 my mom's journey with Alzheimer's came to an end as she went to be with her Lord. Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when my daughter, Katie, was three. When Katie was 11, her Nanny and Pop moved in with us. When she was 16, she watched as we transitioned Nanny to a memory care facility and just this past weekend, just before her 22nd birthday, she spent time with her Nanny, feeding her and singing to her. This is a journey no one should have to endure. Though Mom's journey is over, it is not over for our family. Mom's sister died with Alzheimer's in 2023, and her mom had Alzheimer's before she died. With a family history of Alzheimer's, I will be the next in line. I don't want to be a part of the next Alzheimer's Generation. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease for all. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Would you consider making a donation in honor of my family and all who have gone on this journey with their loved ones?
Currently, there are more than 5 million other Americans who have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
October 19th is the Portland Walk to End Alzheimer's fundraiser event. I am part of the team "Judi Petersen Family and Friends". Won't you join our team by making a donation? We'd also love to have you join our team and walk with us on October 19th.
