I am walking in memory of too many people to name--four generations of my family in a row; family members of friends; actors and authors who made the world a better place; and countless patients I helped care for as a hospice volunteer.
But most of all, I'm walking for my mother, who fought her battle against dementia with all of her considerable courage, grace, and compassion before she went gently into that good night on November 16, 2023, and left a hole in the world that can never be filled.
Mom's wish through her fight was that her battle would do good for others. Participating in the Walk is one of the small ways I can keep helping make her wish come true: by helping to fund the programs that gave so much hope and support to my family, and the research that will one day eradicate dementia.
Thank you for your best wishes, and if you are so inclined, any support you wish to give. It means more than I can say.
