My family and I decided to join the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s this year to raise awareness and funds for research. We see each and every day the heartbreak and loss this disease brings to both the individual and the families that surround them.
My mom was diagnosed about 3-4 years ago but she has suffered with the disease long before the actual diagnosis. Watching her struggle every single day is awful. From the smallest of things like trying to remember what she walked into the kitchen for to the bigger things like fighting to hang onto her independence for as long as she can.
My mom has two daughters, my sister and I, 2 sons-in-law, 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 3 great-granddaughters. She will be 71 in November. She has so much left to live for, experience and remember. She is loved beyond measure. She is the rock of this family and has held us together through many tough times. But now it is our turn to hold her and give back for her.
Please join us in this walk. You can do so in many different capacities: physically by registering and joining and walking on the day of, financially by donating to anyone on our team, spiritually by continuing to keep us all in your thoughts and prayers on this loooooong journey or emotionally by leaving us words of encouragement on our team or individual pages.
From our family to you and yours, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you!
