I was asked by a friend why I wanted to have a “Team Margie” in the Alzheimer’s Walk on October 19th at Glass City Metropark.
Margie was diagnosed with Frontotemporal dementia in 2014 and together we started a new “walk”. This was not an enjoyable “walk”, it was sad, frustrating, humiliating and finally deadly. Margie went through many changes during this “walk”, from being a talented artist to not even being able to choose what color pencil to use in her adult coloring books. God blessed us with 2 sons during our 54 year "walk" and blessed our family with extra time with Margie during this last “walk”, 9 years versus the average life expectancy of a dementia patient of 2 to 8 years. Margie and I still talk each day and I know I will be with her on a “Heavenly walk” someday.
This is why I am asking you to join “Team Margie” to help me and the Alzheimer’s Association eliminate this deadly disease. To do this go to http://act.alz.org/goto/TeamMargie and register for TEAM MARGIE to walk, make a donation to TEAM MARGIE, offer a prayer for this program or start your own team to support The Walk.
Alzheimer's®! Walk is the largest event to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®. It’s held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, and our team is excited to participate this year.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and over 11 million family and friends provide their unpaid care. We need your help to end this devastating disease. You can make an impact with a donation or even joining our team. Your kindness and generosity truly make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
Thank you for your support!
