This disease has affected so many in my family, My Grandmother, Aunt and my Mom. As I age, I find that I now have friends that are dealing with Alzheimer's. In 2021 I walked into a room where a friend and co-worker of 20 years was and she did not even know who I was, that was a sad day. Some months ago, a wonderful friend of mine,(younger than I am) began having trouble with her memory. She was able to call me from her home in Virginia, Sharing our memories was always a good time. Now, her memory has gotten so bad that her family moved her to a facility. She is several miles away and does not have access to a phone, so I have lost connection with her. I know that she is being cared for, but it is difficult not being able to talk with her on the phone. I miss my Mom and my friends and every time someone close to me is diagnosed with this horrible disease it just reminds me to keep on fighting for a cure and awareness.
