Many of you reading this will know why I am fundraising for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, or why I chose to name my team name “Merlin’s Message”. However, I think the significance for both deserves a special moment of recognition.
My grandfather, Merlin, passed away December 9, 2010 and suffered with Alzheimer’s in the years leading up to his passing. Though I was one of his youngest grandchildren, I have many fond memories of him. He was hard-working, playful, and taught me that you can never, in fact, love a person too much. I learned with this illness how difficult it is to see someone suffer and change so drastically, and how hard it is to lose them twice.
For fourteen years, I have volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association and Sigma Kappa Sorority to become an advocate for Alzheimer’s research and treatment. Now, I have the ability to position myself to run my own team and fundraise these efforts. I named this team “Merlin’s Message” because I want to continue on my grandfather’s message of love and hard work, and I would love your support.
My goal is to raise a total of $2,000 by the date of the Dayton Walk, October 19th. If you are able, please consider donating to my team! If you have any questions, please let me know directly or through my business socials (DeShano Directives Group, LLC).
Additionally, you can walk with me during the Dayton Walk, which will be at the Dayton Air Park, starting at 10am. I appreciate your time and consideration, especially with a cause so close to my heart.
