Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Walk to End ALZ , I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this heartbreaking disease — funds that allow the Association to provide 24/7 care, support and do critical on-going research.
I've long been a supporter for ALZ and participated in the walks for years in support of my maternal grandmother, my husband's grandmother and all those friends that have dealt with ALZ/dementia issues with their loved ones. However, this last year it really hit close to home for me as my own mother was officially diagnosed with ALZ. Getting a diagnosis was not an easy feat, not at all - numerous doctors, visits, tests and for the most part having to navigate our own way through the process, figuring it out as we go. The lack of process and difficulties we dealt with along the way were very eye-opening and frankly sad. My Dad, sister and I (and our families) have had to navigate exploring memory care centers and placing our spouse/Mom/Grandma in one. The thoughts and feelings that went along with this are overwhelming and all over the board. This was not an easy decision but was the best decision for her, regardless of what outsiders thought/said. We are all learning to navigate our new normal, giving and getting support.
This is where the Walk and Association come into play, so please join my team, Joy Seekers, to walk and/or make a donation. Thank you in advance for your support!
