My mother, Mary Dickhaut, passed away on the morning of March 9, 2023, after struggling with dementia for almost 20 years. My mother and my father, Richard Dickhaut, were married almost 70 years before she died. Mary and Richard had three children, John (Jed), Bill and Lisa, who gave them six grandchildren, who then gave them four great grandchildren before Mary died. My mother was a wonderful mother and a wonderful person who brightened the lives of everyone she touched.
I hope that no one would ever have to go through what my mother endured. However, without a cure, many more will spend the rest of their lives with this terrible disease. I want to honor my mother's life by helping to find a cure.
