I'm walking for both my mother and daddy. Here are their stories:
In 2011, Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My Dad was her primary caregiver for one year, until we made the HARD decision to move her to a nursing facility for the Deaf. It was a blessing in disguise because the community that they lived in was run by and run for the Deaf. Mother passed away in January 2016.
In spring of 2017, daddy (apparently) had a stroke. We moved daddy up to Ashtabula in the summer of 2017, and again after several attempts of him exit seeking, we found his forever care facility in the Lantern of Saybrook. We lost daddy in July of 2021, and I am forever grateful for the time I had with him. I join the fight again this year to Walk to End Alzheimer's.
This disease has impacted our family significantly with both my mom and dad. Please help make the future better for others by finding a way to change the course of this disease.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
