This year’s walk is bittersweet for our team as we have recently lost our original Bombshell, Bessie Cassaro, following her 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s.
My cousin, Theresa Lesh started the Bessie’s Bombshells team years ago in honor of her amazing mother (my aunt), Bessie Cassaro who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2012. The team now includes Charlie’s Angels to honor Charlie Cassaro (Bessie’s husband and my uncle) who passed away in 2022, and also suffered with dementia.
This is my third year joining her team and participating in the walk. In addition to my aunt’s and uncle’s affliction with this terrible disease, my mother suffers from dementia as did both of her parents so this a cause very near and dear to my heart.
I look forward to a time when science brings us a cure for this terrible disease. Until then I’m asking you to please make a donation to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
And think of me and all of our Bombshells on the morning of Saturday, October 19th as we walk the Cleveland Zoo while proudly sporting our signature bright red Bessie lipstick and bright red Bessie beads to help fight this disease and to honor a woman who who spent her life fighting for others.
Thank you for your support!
