On July 6th of 2018, my dad passed away, more than 10 years after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
Over the course of that decade, I watched the decline in memory and the struggles with language. Through it all, my dad never lost his sense of humor, his kind-hearted attitude, and his incredible strength.
Today, we honor him as a family, as we have done for the last 16 years by taking part in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. He is not with us in body, but certainly in spirit, and so we carry on his legacy, trying to help others who have faced this same struggle.
