Hope Never Gives Up! We walk in honor of Chuck—husband, father, grandfather, great -grandfather, friend. We walk to honor all those who have courageously taken the journey and those who are now on it. As we begin our 17th Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I see how far our family and the Alzheimer’s Association have come.
Walking my journey with my husband, Chuck, was at times difficult because of the sadness of how Alzheimer’s took away so many things that he enjoyed doing. He took each day as it came. I had the experience of watching him accept the things he could not hold onto and take what he had and enjoy it. It was a time of remembering what a gift his life was to me, our family, and many others. He left us with a legacy of a life well lived.
Because the Spirit never gets Alzheimer’s, the memory Chuck left me with gives me the grace to help others on their journey to find the joy that has captured our hearts.
The funds the Alzheimer’s Association uses to support people with dementia and their families, as well as research, is always needed. Please help me and others affected by this disease as my family Walks to End Alzheimer’s.
