In 2017, seven years after her diagnosis, my mom, Jane Howard, passed away due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). In 2015, my husband, Bob, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. More recently, Bob was diagnosed with a rare variant of AD known as Primary Progressive Aphasia, Logopenic Type which affects language ability early in the disease process. My family is only one of many families affected by these devastating diseases. As of now, there is no cure, but I am hoping there will be someday soon. That's why our family is forming a "Walk to End Alzheimer's" team again this year.
Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This year, we will be supporting the Finger Lakes Walk to End Alzheimer's in Geneva, NY:
Walk to End Alzheimer's Schedule of Events:
October 7 | 10 a.m. Walk starts
Location:
Finger Lakes Welcome Center | Geneva, NY 14456
Route Length: 2 miles
While there is no fee to register for Walk, all participants are encouraged to raise funds that will advance the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association by enabling critical care and support services and advancing research toward methods of prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure.
Please support our team and this important work by donating and/or, if you are in the Finger Lakes area, join us on the walk on October 7th in Geneva
