Alzheimer's and dementia aren't stopping, and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I'm raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against these diseases. 

My mom fought everyday for her memories, she shared stories that none of us had heard before but couldn’t remember who we (her children) were. She remembered dates of surgeries she had as a child, but couldn’t remember how many grandchildren she had. She could remember details of my great great grandmother’s life but couldn’t tell you what day it was.  

My last promise to my mom was to continue to fight against these diseases, to do whatever I could to ensure no more families have to endure these diseases.  

My mom, Sandra, lost the battle with dementia last year.  She fought as long and as hard as she could.  She is now my angel, my inspiration, my guiding light.  She is not the only one that I have lost, my great grandmother, my aunts and friends.  One is far too many.
