My trek to Everest Base Camp and Walk to End Alzheimer's are inspired by our our parents, Dee & Don Molloy who both suffered from dementia. Mom & Dad were married for 61 years and raised six children, 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They bestowed unconditional love on their family, influenced the principles and values that guide our moral compass and lived through their faith.
Memories of my parents will inspire each step I take during the Alzheimer's Walk and my trek to Everest Base Camp.
A caregiver whose husband had Alzheimer's said she felt like "he left without saying goodbye". Her words captured the profound impact this this debilitating and deadly disease has on those we love.
I start this journey to raise $17, 598 - the height of Everest Base Camp - to honor my parents and all family caregivers, with the hope that no one will ever leave their loved one without saying goodbye.
