I'm heading into my 9th year as captain of "Walking to Remember," my amazing team of friends and family that join me every year on the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
A little background for those of you who don't know: Alzheimer's and Dementia runs on both sides of my family. Both my maternal grandma and paternal grandpa died from complications of both diseases.
My dad currently suffer from Alzheimer's, with his wife as his main care giver. Dad currently attends a facility a few times a week for Alzheimer's patients, and this gives both my dad and Carol some time to themselves.
The Alzheimer's Foundation is constantly raising funds for drug research, trials and FDA approval. We are closer than ever to finding a cure. My heart couldn't be happier.
