(Please: screen in, wear a surgical mask, hand sanitize, and meet in the is a dedicated NMHCA & NMCAL regulation facility, in tandem with supporting the vision of the Department of Health and the Division of Health Improvement, the RCA has championed a Alzheimer's and Dementia Training Protocol for their staff. This protocol initiative is The RCA's measured response to the '2023 Long-Term Care Facility Dementia Training Act NMSA 1978, Section 24-17B-3' required by all Long-term care facilities to have initiated amongst their staff.

The RCA values residents with Alzheimer's and Dementia, as Purple Ribbon Resident, and the RCA provides additional ADL supports for these individuals. The staff faculty supports these residents with open facility accessibility, to encourage independent wandering with care planned wander-guards, and person-centered-care rehabilitative therapies & recreational programming involvements. Programming's that enhance residents activities of daily living (ADL's), morale, and rehabilitative exercises.  

Three programs that The Rehabilitation Center of Albuquerque embraces for advancement within the facility culture of Alzheimer's and Dementia Awareness is:

1. DEI Awareness: Diversity Equity and Inclusion: We believe in supporting residents, families, and staff who suffer with Alzheimer's & Dementia   

2. Hygiene Support: We believe that all residents including our Purple Ribbon Residents at the RCA should receive FREE haircuts, beard trimmings, and manicures-  The RCA free Alzheimer's & Dementia Salon/Barbershop Support Program.

3. Restorative Programming: We believe that residents suffering from Alzheimer's & Dementia related issues should be implemented into a Restorative Exercise program within groups or one-to-ones.
