It's been 3 years since our mother passed away on August 27, 2021 from Alzheimer's. She may be gone from this earth but her spirit to help others in need still motivates the Brai family. Please support our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
This poem was written by Cheryl Ricci-Francione, Executive Director, Alzheimer's Association Greater NJ. The poem was shared at mom's wake and funeral and we'd like to share with you.
You found it hard to remember
the names, the year, the date.
I know it was confusing, and it made you hesitate.
I did my best to understand, be patient and be kind.
I listened and of all forgotten details I’d remind.
I recalled all that you did for me, to help me grow up strong.
I realized it was now my turn to help you get along.
I knew you still loved music. You danced and you would smile.
I’d play your favorite tunes & you’d recall for a little while.
We tried to keep you longer, but it wasn’t in God’s plan.
It’s time to say goodbye for now and thank you for the dance.
